Who can see this site

Anyone with the link can view the pages on this site. Only registered residents who are logged in can post a comment on the Forum or upload a photo to the Photo Gallery.

Comments and photos are public right away

When you post a comment or upload a photo, it appears on the site immediately for anyone visiting to see — there is no review step before it goes live. Please use good judgment about what you share.

Forum comments show your name next to your post. Photo Gallery uploads do not show your name publicly, but they are tied to your account behind the scenes.

What we store, and why

Like virtually all websites, this site automatically records the IP address of anyone who posts a comment, along with basic browser information. This is standard, built into WordPress itself, and is used only to help catch spam — it is never shown publicly. Only the site administrator can see it.

If you upload a photo from your phone, please be aware that photo files can sometimes contain hidden location information (where the picture was taken). This site does not remove that automatically, so if you’d rather not share your location, consider that before uploading.

Cookies

If you log in, WordPress uses a small cookie to keep you signed in. If you leave a comment, you may be offered the option to save your name and email in a cookie so you don’t have to retype it next time.

We don’t share your information

Nothing collected on this site is sold or shared with outside companies. It exists only to help run this community site for Hodent Village Rats residents.
